Academic Visits and Teaching in Europe

February 2026

February was a particularly active academic month in Europe, combining teaching, research presentations, workshops, and academic visits in Belgium, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands.

Visiting Professor at KU Leuven 🇧🇪

During February, I was a Visiting Professor at KU Leuven, where I taught Network Analysis (G0W14A) to graduate students from the Master of Statistics and Data Science and the Master in Sociology – Quantitative Analysis and Social Data Science.

The course introduced students to the foundations of social network analysis, combining theoretical concepts with statistical methods and applications.

Presentation and workshop at the University of Oxford 🇬🇧

I also visited the University of Oxford for two academic activities organised with Matías Montero.

At the Leverhulme Centre for Demographic Science (LCDS), Nuffield College, I presented ongoing research on Identification with Informal Social Groups.

At the Department of Education, I delivered the workshop Analysing Social Networks Using R, developed with support from the ESRC Grand Union Doctoral Training Partnership (GUDTP).

Academic visit to the University of Groningen 🇳🇱

The month concluded with an academic visit to the University of Groningen, where I met with Tom A. B. Snijders and Christian Steglich.

The visit included a research presentation and discussions around multilayer networks, statistical network modelling, and sustainability science, as well as opportunities for future collaboration.

I am very grateful for the generous hospitality across the three institutions, the stimulating academic conversations, and the new collaborative opportunities that emerged throughout the month.
