Research Visit to Australia

2025

During 2025, I undertook an academic visit to Australia, combining conference participation, research visits, and collaborative work across several universities.

Australian Social Network Analysis Conference

I participated in the Australian Social Network Analysis Conference (ASNAC 2025), organised by the Australian Network for Social Network Analysis (ANSNA) community, where I presented ongoing research on Missing Data in Network Autocorrelation Models.

The conference provided an excellent opportunity to engage with the Australian social network analysis community and discuss recent methodological developments in network research.

Research visit at UNSW

A central part of the trip was a research visit to the University of New South Wales (UNSW) as part of our Seed Fund UC–UNSW 2024 (2025–2026) project.

The project, developed jointly with Pavel Krivitsky, focuses on methodological developments in statistical network analysis and forms part of a broader collaboration between researchers at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and UNSW.

Melbourne and Sydney

The visit also included academic meetings at the University of Melbourne and a research presentation at the University of Sydney, providing further opportunities to discuss ongoing projects and establish connections with researchers working on social networks and related methodological questions.

Beyond the individual presentations and meetings, the visit provided an opportunity to strengthen connections between the Australian and Chilean social network research communities and to develop new ideas for future research and collaboration.

I returned to Chile with a considerably longer list of research tasks—but also with new projects, methodological developments, and connections to share with our growing network science community in Chile.
